Merritt Decker is a devoted associate with Black Creek Legal. With thirteen years of experience litigating, negotiating, and trying cases; Merritt is a powerful advocate and is highly skilled at navigating the complex legal world on behalf of his clients.
Merritt is originally from Utah where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University with a major in philosophy. He moved to Idaho to attend University of Idaho’s College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2012. Merritt began his career working in the State of Washington as a county prosecutor where he handled cases as simple as petit theft all the way up to first degree murder. Merritt moved to Boise in 2019 where he continued his career as a prosecutor working for the Ada County Prosecutor’s office.
After eleven years of prosecuting hundreds of criminal cases, Merritt began his career in private practice where he is able to use his experience to help those who have been charged with criminal offenses. Having over a decade of prosecuting virtually every type of crime, Merritt possesses a unique advantage when it comes to representing those who are in need of a dedicated criminal defense attorney. He has skillfully prosecuted and defended numerous cases and has an impressive ability to negotiate, litigate, and try cases to secure successful outcomes.
While his focus is mainly criminal law, Merritt also has experience representing clients in their divorces, paternity and custody cases, civil protection orders, and various other matters within family law.
